Independent Financial Advisers (IFA) – Gerrards Cross

Century Financial Planning, based in Windsor, provide independent financial advice to individuals and small to medium size companies throughout Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and the M4 corridor.

We are proud to have been awarded ‘Chartered Status’ by the Chartered Insurance Institute. This accolade is considered the gold standard within the financial advice industry, as all Chartered Financial Planners must complete a suite of professional qualifications equivalent to a bachelors’ degree.

In addition, all Chartered Financial Planners adhere to a respected code of ethics, must have at least 5 years’ relevant experience and commit to continued professional development to ensure that they are up to date with the latest legislation and technical developments.

You should therefore be confident that as a Chartered firm of Independent Financial Advisers, Century Financial Planning can be relied upon to consider your own personal circumstances and devise a plan to help you meet your needs, fulfil your aspirations and help provide you with a secure financial future.

Century Financial Planning always conduct a thorough fact finding exercise to fully understand your circumstances as well as your individual needs, aspirations and your timeline. In addition, we always fully explore your attitudes to investment risk and your ability to accept risk. We then provide specialist financial advice in many areas, including:

Investment and Savings – we devise a plan designed around your needs and giving consideration to your tax status. Your plan could include the use of investments such as ISAs, Unit Trusts and/or investment bonds, both onshore and offshore.

Pension advice and Retirement planning – we provide full specialist advice for retirement. Retirement planning is very much a 2 tier process, first of all building your retirement fund and then using that fund to provide your income in retirement. Pensions for the accumulation phase can include Stakeholder or Personal Pensions, schemes available through your employer or more complex arrangements such as Self Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs).

At retirement it may be appropriate to purchase an annuity. This can be done via the scheme provider, particularly if they provide a valuable guaranteed rate secured when the pension was created. Alternatively it may be appropriate to select your annuity using the Open Market option seeking the best available rate from the entire marketplace. You could also qualify for an Enhanced Rate or Impaired Annuity.

If more flexibility is sought we also advise on alternative ways to provide an income in retirement such as phasing your retirement or drawing an income from an unsecured pension (known as Income Drawdown), as well as considering other areas such as investment linked annuities and Drawdown contracts that offer guarantees (sometimes known as 3rd way pensions).

Inheritance Tax Planning –With the nil rate band frozen at £325,000 until 2017/2018 it is likely that more people will be liable to this tax on their demise. Century Financial Planning are able to identify and advise on the most appropriate strategy to mitigate this tax for you and your beneficiaries. This can include advice on making outright gifts during the donor’s lifetime or into a suitable trust arrangement.

Financial planning for businesses – in the same way that we advise individuals, we look to understand the needs and circumstances of the business and then build the appropriate financial plan to meet those needs. This can include advising on the protection needs of the partners or directors, protecting against the financial implications of the death of a key member of staff, or the provision of an employee benefits plan to aid staff retention, including benefits such as a Group Pension, Death in Service benefit, Private Medical Insurance or cover against ill health.

We also offer advice to businesses on their obligation under the new workplace pension’s legislation. Whether you use an existing qualifying pension scheme, arrange a new qualifying pension scheme or use the new National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) you are or will be obliged to enrol all qualifying staff members into the scheme and make appropriate contributions on their behalf. For guidance on Auto-Enrolment and the legislation surrounding workplace pensions Century Financial Planning can help.

Financial Protection for you and your family – we will understand what is important to you; whether you wish to ensure that your family benefit from a lump sum or income in the event of your death, or if it is appropriate to provide you with protection against ill health we will build the right plan. We build a plan specifically for you that can include life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection or private medical insurance.
